Dairy Barn Open House Was a Success!
News from the Bishop Farm – The Bishop Family, Round Hill, NS

New Dairy Barn Open House

What a day we had on April 24th! The sun came up bright and early and our staff started arriving at 4am to get things organized for the open farm day viewing of the new Dairy Barn Parlour facility. People started arriving at 9:30am and the last to leave were after 5pm. Throughout the day there were approximately 250 - 300 people here. We had visitors from Australia, Brazil, PEI and from all over Nova Scotia. We were amazed and very pleased to say the least.

All of our barns were open for people to wander around with the calf barn being a popular place to visit. The entire Bishop family and staff were on hand to answer the many questions from farmers and non farming visitors. A great interest was shown in the geothermal heat recovery system and the new computerized technology in the milking parlour which includes cow pedometers, crowd gates and an automatic foot bath. It is comforting to know that people are interested and want to know how their milk is produced.

The local 4-H group, The Sun Valley Riders Club, worked the BBQ which went on for most of the day. Our many thanks to you at Farmers Dairy for providing the milk shakes and chocolate drinks which were a big hit especially with the young people. Special thanks to all our sponsors and farm staff for their input and the extra effort shown that went towards a very successful OPEN FARM DAY at Bishop Farms Ltd.
