Innovative farm feed keeps cows happy and healthy

Kingsmeadow Farm

At Kingsmeadow Farm, they know that happy and healthy cows produce the best milk. One way they achieve this is by using a cutting-edge feeding program that lowers the cows’ stress hormones, helps make the milk more nutritious and improves the productivity of the cows. Because of the progressive nature of his feeding program, farm owner Barry Maxner likes to call this milk “smart milk”.

This feeding program has the Maxners using high-tech monitoring practices to track the nutritional value of their home-grown grasses, corn and soybeans to ensure that the cows receive a balanced diet. This special diet reduces stress and promotes productivity and longevity.

There has been a long tradition of quality at Kingsmeadow Farm. While Barry’s scientific approach to feeding cows is very different than his grandfather’s - who milked cows by hand at Kingsmeadow – their commitment to excellence and getting the freshest milk to market is the same.
