Lori's Buttermilk Biscuits
“Our kids love these biscuits. They are really light and fluffy. I am a foods leader at our local 4-H club and last year one of our members used this recipe for competition and won Grand Champion Foods article at Hants County Exhibition.” - Lori Vroegh, Sunny Point Farms, Proud Farmer-Owner
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup cold Farmers butter (cubed)
- 1 cup Farmers buttermilk
- 1 egg
2. Using pastry blender, or 2 knives, cut in butter, until in coarse crumbs.
3. Whisk buttermilk with egg.
4. Sir buttermilk, egg mixture into flour mixture with a fork to make soft dough.
5. With lightly floured hands, press dough into ball.
6. On lightly floured surface, knead gently 10 times.
7. Pat dough into ¾” thick round.
8. Using 2 1/2” round cutter, cut into rounds.
9. Place on parchment paper, lined or floured rimless baking sheet.
10. Bake at 400 F in oven till golden brown (approx. 12 – 15 mins)
